OUR MISSION

To create a network of hospitals and research institutes that bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of healthcare while advancing the science itself through our research.

GET INVOLVED

JUHRI will work with the government, organizations and individuals who share her vision: that healthcare is a human right and it is our collective responsibility to ensure universal access to it.

Our Hospitals

Our hospitals will provide unparalleled primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare 100% free of charge to the underserved in sub-urban and rural South-South Nigeria.

This care will include point-of-care diagnostics and therapeutics performed by truly exceptional healthcare providers in a caring and compassionate manner.

In doing this, we will not just meet, but in fact advance, the standard of care in medicine locally and around the world as we answer Christ's call to "Heal the Sick" (Matt 10:8).

Our Research Institutes

Our research institutes will perform cutting edge biomedical research aimed at improving current, and creating new, diagnostic tools and therapies that revolutionize patient care locally and around the world.

We will do this through our partnerships with local and international teaching hospitals to not only perform the best research possible, but also to ensure our work is truly translational by serving the very patients we see.

It is through this work with, and focus on, people that our translational research will be truly transformative.

1st Anniversary

The first anniversary of the commissioning of JUHRI’s first site was held on June 6, 2019 and was celebrated by the community and many religious leaders of the archdiocese of Calabar thereby emphasizing their steadfast support of our mission as we continue to provide free care to the poor and underserved.

2nd Anniversary

The second anniversary of the commissioning of JUHRI’s first site was held virtually on June 6, 2020 in order to safely socially distance due to the dangers of COVID 19. This event was celebrated by volunteers around the world as well as by local Catholic schools and the communities JUHRI serves. It was a joyous day as we celebrated another year of providing free care to the poor and underserved in accordance with Christ’s teachings.

2nd Site commissioning

The commissioning of JUHRI's second site was held on June 11th, 2022. It was celebrated by the local community of Esuk Mbat as well as many religious leaders and healthcare providers. It was truly a beautiful showing of what can be accomplished through the unrelenting support of the archdiocese of Calabar and those who have joined together to answer Christ's call in Matt 10:8 to "Heal the sick."

The PasSing of Archbishop Joseph Ukpo

Our beloved Eponym, Archbishop Joseph Edra Ukpo, passed away on March 1st, 2023. He was a leader, advocate, and visionary who made a profound impact on those he worked with and served while with us on this Earth and will continue to lead and inspire us while he rests in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
